Welcome to the Shepherdstown Fire Department Training Center Site

Education impacts learning and the development of individuals by improving verbal skills, quantitative skills, and the ability to use higher-level thinking, decision-making skills, intellectual flexibility, reflective judgment, and communications. Education also impacts attitudes and values by developing a more positive self-image, encouraging autonomy and independence, increasing the ability to deal with change and ambiguity, developing a structure for principled reasoning and moral judgment, and improving career mobility.

PROGRAM GOAL

The goal of the Shepherdstown Fire Department training programs are to prepare competent emergency medical technicians in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains through the delivery of safe and effective training.

PROGRAM ACCREDITATION

The Shepherdstown Fire Department Instructional Program is approved as an EMT training agency in the State of West Virginia as identified by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services Division of the Office of Emergency Medical Services.
ASHI-logoThe Shepherdstown Fire Department Instructional Program is accredited by the American Health and Safety Institute as an approved Basic Life Support CPR and First Aid Training Center.

TUITION and BILLING

For members of the Shepherdstown Fire Department, tuition is covered in accordance with Shepherdstown Fire Department Operational Guideline #3390

For those who are not members of the Shepherdstown Fire Department, the following tuition schedule is in effect:

Course Tuition
CPR (ASHI) $25.00 per person
First Aid (ASHI) $25.00 per person
WVOEMS CE Hour Courses  $5.00 per hour, per student
 Initial EMR Certification  $350 per student
 Initial EMT Certification  $700 per student

Check will be made payable to Shepherdstown Fire Department. Invoices available upon request. Payment is due at time of class registration.

The Shepherdstown Fire Department (SFD) Training Institute reserves the right to make any revisions, deletions, or additions to the policies or procedures which, in the opinion of the organization and/or WVOEMS, serve in the best interest of the program and its students. If changes from these policies and procedures are necessary, those changes will be noted in changes to the handbook.
