The fire service thrives on solid leadership, where the ability to inspire, make tough decisions, and foster a culture of teamwork is paramount in ensuring the safety of both the community and the dedicated personnel who serve it.

Craig Simpson

President – Chief Executive Officer of the Department. Administrative leader responsible for overseeing the business aspects of the fire department. Plays a pivotal role in coordinating community outreach, fundraising, and fostering positive relationships between the department and the local community.

Ross L. Morgan

Fire Chief – Elected in 2006. The Fire Chief is the highest-ranking officer in the department, responsible for overseeing all aspects of emergency response, department operations, and community safety. They provide strategic leadership, manage resources, and ensure the highest standards of firefighting and emergency services.

Steve Matson

Vice President – Serves as a vital support to the President, assisting in organizational duties, community engagement, and planning. Together with the President, they contribute to the effective functioning and leadership of the fire department.

Zac Morgan

Assistant Fire Chief – Elected in 2023. Directly supports the operational and administrative needs of the department as the second in command. Responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective execution of operations.

Marshall DeMeritt

Fire Captain – Elected in 2024. Supports tactical operational initiatives, and mentors junior officers for operational excellence. Plays a crucial role in mentoring and training firefighters, contributing to the overall effectiveness and preparedness of the operational unit.

EMS Coordinator – Transitioned from EMS Chief (elected in 2013) to the inaugural EMS Coordinator, serving as the highest ranking EMS official of the department. Responsible for organizing and optimizing Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations, coordinating training programs, and ensuring compliance with medical protocols. They play a crucial role in overseeing the delivery of high-quality pre-hospital care and fostering collaboration among EMS personnel.

Lieutenant 3-1 – Elected LT 3-1 in 2025, serving as LT 3-2 since 2023. Lieutenants supervise and coordinate the activities of a team of firefighters during emergency responses, training sessions, and routine tasks.

JoHn Sines

Lieutenant 3-2 – Elected in 2025. Lieutenants supervise and coordinate the activities of a team of firefighters during emergency responses, training sessions, and routine tasks.

Steve Matson

Lieutenant 3-3 – Elected in 2025. Lieutenants supervise and coordinate the activities of a team of firefighters during emergency responses, training sessions, and routine tasks.

Denny Barron

Treasurer – Serving for 36 years. Manages financial matters, overseeing budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting to ensure the fiscal health of the department. They play a crucial role in resource allocation and financial transparency for the benefit of the fire department and its stakeholders.

Matthew Locke

Secretary – Serves as the administrative backbone, handling documentation, record-keeping, and communication to ensure smooth operations. They play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate records, and facilitating efficient internal communication.

Joel Rainey

Chaplain – Offers spiritual and emotional support to individuals within the organization, providing comfort and counseling during challenging times. They play a vital role in offering solace to firefighters and their families, fostering resilience, and promoting overall well-being.

Peter Pentony

Attorney – Provides legal counsel and representation, interpreting and applying laws to guide decision-making and ensure compliance. They play a key role in advising SFD on legal matters, representing them in legal proceedings, and safeguarding their legal interests.

Lily DeMeritt

Honorary Fire Chief – While not in an operational role, they hold an honorary title in acknowledgment of their representation of the department at fundraisers, social gatherings, parades, and community events.
