The Shepherdstown Fire Department was in the midst of a large fund raising event when the Jefferson County Dispatch center, dispatched Company 3 for a house fire on Kearneysville pike, just prior to the train bridge. Company 3 (Shepherdstown), Company 4 (Independent), and Company 60 (Baker Heights), were first alerts for the fire. Chief 3 added Company 2 (Citizens) for an engine to exercise RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) in case something went wrong. Rescue Engine 3 arrived on scene just after Engine 62 and advised a fire in the attic.
Rescue Engine 3 and Engine 62 made interior on the structure and found that an electrical fire had developed on the second floor and attic of the property. These two engines were followed closely by Truck 3, Engine 4-1, and Engine 2. Sharpsburg Company 1 stood by at Station 3, and subsequently ran an electrical fire at Shepherd Universities McMurran Hall. No damage was done to McMurran Hall. Units cleared the scene of the house fire within 2 hours. |
